Abstract:The theme of death recurs with significant import in Li Zishu" s novels, not only intensifying narrative tension but also reflecting the author" s profound inquiry into life and death. This paper examines the representation of death in Li Zishu" s latest novel, the Flowing Mortal Realm (?流俗地?), analyzing how the author employs specific narrative perspective, temporal ambiguity, and mirrored character pairings to deconstruct the binary opposition between life and death. Through these techniques, death becomes a mechanism for generating meaning, one that profoundly informs the psychological experiences and daily lives of the living.
