Abstract:As an essential component of medical ethics, palliative care focuses on the quality of life and dignity of patients in the terminal phase. The rise of postmodern bioethics has provided new perspectives for traditional bioethics. This paper aims to explore how postmodern bioethics redefines the dignity of life and offers theoretical support and practical guidance for palliative care. It first reviews the traditional understanding of life dignity, then analyzes the reconstruction of life dignity by postmodern bioethics. On this basis, it discusses the implications for palliative care, including the emphasis on patient autonomy, end-of-life decision-making in multicultural contexts, and the reshaping of the role of healthcare professionals. Finally, it discusses the challenges and coping strategies in applying postmodern bioethics to palliative care practice.
